Time for Sichuan

CNN sent a reporter to the Aba county in Sichuan province, because they received pictures and reports from some Tibetan groups about killing of Tibetans there.

The title of the video was “Conflicting stories of death”. The reporter said, along the way, they heard different stories about the numbers of people died. But he only gave one example, saying, here, these people said they were told that over 100 ethnic Chinese people were killed by local news.

I think this video is very problematic and I have serious doubt that the reporter was telling the truth. First of all, they cut of the voices of the natives. Voices of interviewed people speaking foreign language are usually preserved to ensure that the report is true, often as lower background voices. Second, Chinese media is extremely censored. It is extremely unlikely their local news reported the number of death. It is already very surprising if their local news actually reported the protest. The Chinese government has also been very cautious about causing resentment in Han Chinese people, and they may downplay the number of death of Han Chinese.

In Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, at least 2 people died because of attack from Tibetan man in the street, based on reliable information I have. And the news did NOT report this incidence. It is not on any news, Chinese or western. And Sichuan official news website has no news about the death of Chinese people in Aba county.

CNN reporter, probably had lost in translation. His translator may not well understand the dialect there. Or, like usual, CNN is simply biased and putting out false information.
