I have tried to buy an episode of Desperate Housewives on iTunes music store and it works just fine.
Although the resolution is only 320*240 which is a little bit small, it looks not quite bad when I use double size. But full screen is bad…if I am watching it with notebook and sit really near.
Anyway if you have a big screen like the new iMac with Front Row, and you sit back, it might be acceptable to watch the full screen.
But I still feel Apple a little bit short sighted. The this size is just for iPod. But I feel that people might want to view it from computer too. And it seems DH is coded in MPEG 4 instead of H.264. So the size is 200M, while a much clear and bigger Xvid TV rip is just about 350M.
Make this even worse, I heard Jobs said we cannot burn it to CD or DVD. So what if I bought the whole season of Lost and it is like 200MB*25=5000MB=5GB. Well, I don’t have so big harddrive to hold them. How can I backup them? We can burn music we purchased to DVD to backup, in case we had a hard disk failure and we have to buy our music again.
And one suggestion is that the TV show sounds cheap for $1.99 but how many times are you going to watch it? We may listen to the music we bought for many times but I don’t think I will watch the episode for twice. So rent music might not be a good idea, because people might want to keep them forever, while rent TV show might be better than actually buy it.
Seriously I don’t think I am going to buy these TV shows a lot. This time is just for fun. If the price could be cheaper, and for rent, I might do that a little bit more. If not, buying some shows can be much more expensive than installing a cable.
