In Conserved VA, Republicans Rule

Virginia is conserved and domain of Republican.

  • George Allen is 96% side with Bush. And he seems is going to win the Senate race. And he is also considered “racist” or insensitive about race issues. He has ever called a Native American “Macaca” which is really bad word. About macaca, see wikipedia for this controversy. Here is the video of Allen saying macaca twice, and welcomed an America born Native American to America, “real world” of Virginia. George Allen even voted against stem cell research. Washington Post also has a very detailed report on this one.
  • Virgil Goode is very religious and conserved and has won House seat in VA district 5. His TV as are basically about 1) against gay marriage 2) against illegal immigrant 3) protect traditional Virginia value. However he is expected to win because district 5 is REALLY conserved.
  • Marriage amendment is passed by almost 60% people voted Yes. Virginia already has law to prohibit same-sex marriage, which is already VERY religious and conserved among all US states. Now the amendment will really write discrimination into Virginia Constitution. This amendment will even force officials NOT to admit same-sex marriage from some other states. It is also said this amendment will affect many heterosexual couple who are not married. Also, we have to mention again, it’s only after 1967 that interracial marriage became legal in Virginia, the LAST state to remove ban on interracial marriage. Apparently “God forbid interracial marriage so that people of different color were separated on different continents”.

Anyway, Jim Webb almost won. (At the time of posting this blog, VA senate vote result has not been determined.) Well, Okay, let racists and homophobic religious people rule Virginia. Oo-hoo, Macaca! Oh wait, let’s recount.

Update: Quote from Roanoke.com

Christiansburg resident Ellen Gilmore, 71, said she voted for the marriage amendment. “I don’t think two men ought to be married, and I’ve never seen a woman I want to be married to.”

That’s exactly the problem, these old and conserved religious people. You have never seen a woman you want to be married to, how is that reason of other people could not get married? You are not a lesbian, doesn’t mean other women can’t be. I would call that really stupid and ignorant. “I don’t think white man ought to be married to black woman, and I’ve never seen a black woman I want to be married to.”
