Soldier’s Girl, B+, and hate crime.

Soldier’s Girl (2003)

Soldier’s Girl is a movie about a love story between a soldier called Barry Winchell and a transgendered woman. This movie itself is not particularly good. The style of the movie is quite plain, not very special. Talking about movie itself it is just normal movie that is not really a hit. However it is the true story it is based on. Barry Winchell is a real person who was murdered in a hate crime in the US army. The murder has caught a lot of attention that US army admitted that it is a hate crime.

Barry Winchell can barely be considered gay in this movie. But he is hated because the woman he fell in love with is a transgender one. So it is really terrible that what people are capable of with “hate”. Well, gay, bisexual, transgender people are people who live in our society, on this earth. And some people just hate them. So I wonder, what people can do if there is something that is even more worth to be hated. Maybe that’s why we have wars. I recommend people to watch this movie. And you might think about “hate” all over again. Let’s hope that kid is just a boy with serious mental problem.
