Bing from M$ likely to be a failure again

Bing, with its cool Chinese name to be “必应”, is the new attempt of Microsoft to fight Google.

However, is it REALLY better than Google? Wait, how much is it better than Live search even?

I am not sure. But I have been trying this new search engine. Most of my feels are negative. First, I have done some searches side by side using Google and Bing. Most of the time, Google still gave me better results. Although I cannot say I am so satisfied with Google. I believe search could still be more intelligent. Something like Wolfram Alpha, should be the future of one stop search for knowledge.

Another experience is the speed for Bing to add new websites. I have published and announced PAMDB.org here a couple of days ago. And in fact, before my announcements here, the website was up and running, although PAMDB.org may not necessarily redirect it to the full URL.

At the time of my announcement of PAMDB.org here, Google returns no correct results for search of “pamdb.org”. However, less than 24 hours after my announcement, Google was able to find it correctly and already puts it as the top hit. However, until now, Bing still has not picked pamdb.org up yet. This is pathetic. Well, maybe because it is not monitoring my blog that frequently, but still, this feels unacceptable. I knew from Google employee that Google has been working on tweaks in the search engine to incorporate and reflect the latest happening on the web. Apparently M$’s “all new” Bing has nothing to compete against Google in the category. My other experience is that sometimes I posted something on a website and definitely less than 12 hours later it has become the top hit in Google.

Sadly, I assume after another week of Bing trial, I am likely to go back to Google almost exclusively. And Bing is likely to be a failure again, except maybe it will finally beat Yahoo.
